ScotWind illuminates move to floating offshore wind.

Crown Estate Scotland has selected 17 offshore wind projects for its ScotWind seabed leasing round.

It was expected that these would state aims to procure around 10GW of mainly fixed bottom wind power but to the surprise of many the bids amounted to over 26GW with over half of that being for floating offshore wind. This is a very important step in confirming the industry’s faith in floating offshore as a major solution for the future of renewable energy and supports forecasts of over 250GW of floating by 2050.

Gazelle is currently working with the Wind Turbine Generator OEMs and Developers to demonstrate our significant technical lead with the Gazelle platform over other designs in order to have proven pilots in place to be ready for licensing our platforms for these giant projects which are expected to be implemented from 2028 onwards.
